In most cases the book is better. Not only in the read itself but where it allows your imagaination to take it. Plus, depending on the book one can feel more intimaticy/closeness with a character or perhaps the plot.

Books are more thought provoking and profitable. Movies make us lazy. You know that!

Reading books have it's own charm. It takes you to a different world. The manmade elements like sound effects and graphics are not it's.It enhances your imagination.
One more reason of reading books is while you're doing journey it will keep you occupied. It's helpful in those places too where movies are not accessable.

I equate movie watching as a passive experience and book reading as an active experience. In a movie, you are taken on a journey.... but in a book, you are your own pilot and it is completely up to you to decide what you see and where you shall go.

Very good question. Most movies that are based on books have to leave a lot of stuff out of the movie, including characters and whole sections of plot.

In fact, I have heard of writers asking for their name to be removed from the movie because it so different from their book.

Books are more educational. But it's more fun to watch movies (with friends) then read alone.

In my life I have seen (maybe) a half dozen books where the movie was better than the book. Watching the movie will do sometimes if you are writing a book report. But in general, you get much better entertainment from reading the book.

Some people like to read and enjoy the book at their own pace and the book goes into so much more details. Movies sometimes are way off from the book.

first of all reading books stimulates your imagination, and second of all, and most important, the books are ALWAYS better than the movies. i have never seen a movie based off a book that was better. there are always more details in the book and sometimes its from the main characters POV and you get to know what they are thinking instead of just guessing what they are thinking.

Because 9.5 times out of 10, the book is 20 times better! You can use your imagination! Not to mention that reading is good for you and your brain, versus the tv, which isn't.

It's like in feranhite 451. It's not message alone. It's the way the message makes you think. Books can usualy go deeper than movies. Maby thats why people always after reading a book then see the movie say that the movie sucked compared to the book
