  • Uh, how did he get the wrong ID? It would seem you have worse problems than a traffic ticket. Good luck!
  • Wait a minute. please explain how the officer used your dads identification, for your citation? He would not have known this information, unless you gave it to him, either written or verbally. Something is missing here.
  • Did you give him your father's ID? Were you trying to not get in trouble for driving without a license, I'd like to know what you were doing with his ID... Or do you have the same name as your father, and you didn't have your ID and he looked you up on his computer and picked the wrong one... In that case you would have to call the Police Department and talk to the officer who wrote the citation and he would have to be the one to ammend his report as he could then verify that it was the younger not the senior one of you. Did you tell your dad yet?
  • When an officer asks for a DL, he runs the number on that particular drivers license. Even if you and your father share the same name, his information shouldn't have come up. I would take your DL down to your local police station. They can run it and see what information is returned. Based on that, they can void the ticket issued to your father. However, they may or may not re-issue you a ticket with the right information.
  • I apologize if I wasn't clear. I did NOT give the officer my dad's license. It was MINE that he received, and we do NOT share the same name. I don't know how he got my dad's info other than perhaps running a car registration or insurance check on the car and filling out the citation using that information. I don't look like I'm in my 50s...and he obviously didn't look at or use my license to check anything because my dad's information is the one on the ticket.
  • The same thing happened to me. My son received a ticket it had my name and drivers lic # and his exp. date and his class E...Mine is class D...Also going to court over it
  • Are you under 18? I know in some places that minors under 18 have to notify their parents and have their parents appear in court with them and sign off on the violation. Maybe that's why the summons was issued to your father?
