  • Any package, regardless of "priority", dropped in a drop off box is returned to the sender. This is the new policy of the Postal Service regarding parcels. We have 911 and the unabomber to thank for that. To answer your question, you must either go to a post office or, if from your place of business, you may give it to your Postman. You will be asked if there is anything fragile, liquid, or hazardous in the package. If "yes", you may not leave it with your carrier unless it is properly labeled as such. If it is not, you must take it to the Post Office for labeling.
  • If the package has stamps on it and is over 13 ounces it has to be brought to the P.O. but if it bears a meter label or label(s) it can be put in the mailbox. As the new personalized stamps are technically defined as meter labels their use can save you time in this way. Chevalier Daniel C. Boyer
