I replaced a harmonic blancer on a 1976 buick skylark, and now it won't start, is the timing off.

    If you had to remove the distributor to do this job, a real common mistake is to put it back in 180 degrees off.

    If you do that, NO amount of timing adjustment will get it to work.

    Get the engine lined up near TDC #1 cylinder on compression stroke and see where your distributor rotor points. If it points to the #1 plug wire terminal, then you're OK. If not, remove and reinstall the distributor so that it lines up.
