  • Sorry dude. I got lost reading that... I really tried though.
  • Decimals and fractions are different ways of expressing parts of a unit. You can't mix decimals and fractions in the same expression. However, there could be fractions within a fraction. (i.e. complex fractions) http://www.purplemath.com/modules/compfrac.htm
  • You can have a franction in a fraction when you get to higher algebra and pre-calculus. (complex franctions I think they are called, they are challenging and fun)
  • Decimals and fractions don't mix because they are different ways of expressing the same thing. For example 0.5 (decimal) is the same 1/2 (fraction). You don't have decimals within decimals, it doesn't happen. Nor does it need to happen. Each decimal place is 10 times smaller than the one to the left of it. So 0.2 is ten times bigger than 0.02. So the more numbers you have in a decimal chain, the more accurate a number it is.
  • Well it all depends on what your working with. A decimal in a decimal: This only depends on if you are referring to the decimal point. You wouldn't want more than one of those in any number (at least in standard U.S. numbering/math etc). Fraction in a decimal: if you mean like 3.2(2/3)486 as one of the numbers then NO that would be a multiplication problem instead of a number. Decimal in a fraction: I would say yes! you could easily have (2.4)/5 as a fraction. Any decimal in the numerator or denominator would be ok. Fraction in a fraction: absolutely!
