This is absolutly incorrect. I'm putting it bluntly so nobody tries to work their contraception (or lack of) around this.

It is possible for women to get pregnant if she has sex at any time. There are times when it is much less likely (ie just before the period), but there is always a chance. Sperm can survive up to a week inside a woman, and ovulation doesn't always occur on the 14th day of the cycle.

Pregancy is most likely around ovulation (and it is certainly very likely for more than two days- more like a week), but cannot be rulled out at any time. Birth control pills are a good form of contraception, and condoms will also protect from disease most of the time- including HIV (HIV going through condoms is another myth). However, the only sure way not to get pregnant is not to have sex. If in doubt consolt a doctor.

Sort of. There is a window of opportunity between the ovum being released from the ovary after it has matured enough, and it slowly disintegrating as the hormonal balance shifts.

However, for each female, this window is different (length, actual time post menstruation etc) and in fact even for the same female, it will change cycle to cycle.

This is the basis of the human reprodctuve system, the ovum cannot be fertilised if it is not present, and if it has disintegrated. However, relying on this method for contraception is ludicrous, because as explained, it varies preson to person, cycle to cycle, etc. Furthermore, it will still not protect against STD's, so my advice - use protection.

yes and no, there's only so many days a month that your body's more likely to get pregnant.
If it was simple, you shouldn't be able to become pregnant for the days between your period and until you ovulate.
But sperm can live in your body for up to and over 7 days.
Seeing there's no way you can for sure tell when you're going to ovulate and with the sperms 7 day life span, you can never be sure you won't get pregnant.

You can get pregnant at anytime so please don't depend only on the rhythm method for birth control if that's what you're thinking
