How can i get rust off of my bikes crome with household items?

    Steel wool with just a little bit of motor or household oil.

    Use metal polish and wire wool (fine). Maybe vinegar would help too - but as it is acid it can attack the steel under the chrome plate - not a good thing.

    If the chrome has gone nothing will help.

    Best to use coca cola and a wadded up piece of aluminum foil. Works great, no scratches.

    Lysol toilet bowl cleaner.(the blue bottle) I swear it works. I use that on all my rust problems.
