Help answer this question below.
- Must be 18+ (21 doesn't make sense).
- Registeration, with ID.
- Regular STD testing.
- Profit taxed by the goverment.
That's all the say the government should have.
I think that prostitution should be legal if the woman is 21+. It should be regulated, taxed, and woman should be tested weekly for STD.
Whatever employer that hires prostitutes should have information on occupation and education alternatives. Such opportunity should be available so women have a way out of the profession, if they want it.
The employers should pay for wardrobe, birth control, and condoms which should be required for all customers. There should also be a minimum wage for prostitutes that is $100 dollars an hour on up.
- Weekly testing for STDs
- must be 18 + years old
Just curious, whoever gave this comment a negative, one question, why?

You're reading If prostitution was legalized and regulated in America what do you think the rules and regulations should be?

18 does for me. If a 18 year old is not considered competent to drink then I question on this basis how much forethought of the implications a 18 year old has on the life effects of prostitution.

I don't see drinking alcohol as comparable to making a completely sober, drug free decision to participate in sexual activity for money (for a person of any age really). Porn stars only have to be 18, people in general only have to be 18 to buy porn, watch X and R rated movies, buy music with explicit content, buy cigerettes, operate a motor vehicle alone, even register for the draft... I think that about outways the alcohol theory. Alcohol is just a whole other story.

In other places around the world the legal age is lower and they don't have the type of problems we have with alcohol here. I'm sure there are multiple reasons. For me if you can be trained to kill then why can't you drink? I trust with the responsibility of wasting others but I'm not sure you can handle your liquor? The things your willing to do at 18 will change when your 21. Prostitution is a life altering decision. People in their late teens usually have no concept on how much that will effect their lives down the road. How it will effect dating and job prospects, etc. So either the drinking age needs to be lower or the age of sex work needs to be higher. IMO

Putting a intoxicating drug in the hands of (what it considered to be) a legal adult, verses allowing them to make concious decisions which we neither have the ability to accurately determine the outcome of, nor the "moral" obligation to comdemn. But I agree, the drinking age is just put in place as a petty attempt to control the inevitable, because we as Americans have a problem with drugs and alcohol. Plenty of adults under the age of 21 drink, and as adults, I think they have should the right to make that decision.
