How do sunspots affect Earth's weather?

The sun goes through what we call a "Solar Maximum" and Solar Minimum. During the minimun, the surface has less prominents, and sunspots. During the maximum, it has the most sunspots and prominents and solar activity like increased Solar energy and wind going towards the earth and atmosphere. I assume that would affect the radiation that hits earth, it also affects radio frequencies and can mess up satellite communication. I think the time between each maximun and minimum is like 22 years? Or it each one last 11 years....
