Excuses you from what? Drunkenness is no excuse for being violent or disrespectful of other people and their property. Being drunk is not an excuse for many things..... I think it a valid excuse for maybe not being the life and soul of the party - for falling asleep in the corner or for going home early ......

Err. No. If you know that drinking causes you to act like an arsehole, you should either not drink to excess, or take full responsibility for your behaviour whilst under the influence. Worse are people who say "well you pissed me off so much you drove me to drink" they should take some responsibility and stop blamming everyone else for their being twats.
