  • No, but they do beleive that you can convert to Mormonism in the after-life. That may only apply prior to the 2nd coming though.
  • No. Mormons even believe that you will NOT go to hell no matter what. When you die, you will either go to Spirit Paradise or Spirit Prison. If you are in the wrong and go to Prison, you will be taught the true principals of God, and if you STILL do not choose to except them, then you are cast out into Outer Darkness, not hell. Mormons DO believe in Hell, just not that you can go there.
  • There are basically two versions of hell in LDS theology. The first is referred to as Spirit Prison. This is where those that don't accept the gospel go after they die. Since these people did not accept the gospel, they never accepted Christ's atonement for their sins. Therefore they must pay for their sins themselves. This is where they suffer as if thrown into a lake of fire and brimstone. If the individual did not have an adequate opportunity to accept the gospel in this life, but would have had they been presented with the opportunity, then the atonement will still apply to them and they won't have to pay for their sins. Once those that failed to accept the atonement have fully paid for their sins, they will face the final judgment. (This is the one that we will all face at the end of Jesus' 1,000-year reign.) These people will than be sent to one of three places depending on the type of life that they lived. Those that did try to live a good life but just did not accept the full gospel will get a better reward than those that didn't even try. The sons of perdition will get the worst fate of all. All of these lesser rewards do have one thing in common. Spending eternity in one of them means that the occupants spend eternity without the presence of our Heavenly Father. They get to spend eternity living with the knowledge that they could have lived with Heavenly Father if they had just made better decisions in this life. This, then, is the second version of hell, eternal separation from God. It is only those that have done their best to live good lives AND have accepted Jesus' atoning sacrifice that will receive privilege of living with the Father for eternity.
  • Glenn gave a pretty good answer, but I doubt there is enough time or patience here to really do this subject justice. When we die our bodies remain here on this earth, either buried or Cremated,or whatever. Our spirits go to a place called Paradise. This is a Persian word which has several meanings, but one is "A place of waiting for departed spirits." We learn from scriptures that this Paradise is divided into two separate areas. 1. Paradise where all righteous spirits go to await the resurrection and judgment. 2. Spirit prison. Where all who have, either, not heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ, or have heard but refused to accept it, for one reason or another. Those who, hear the Gospel there,(Spirit Prison) and have accepted it, and had all their necessary ordinances performed on earth, by others, and have accepted them, will be escorted from Spirit Prison into Paradise to await the resurrection and judgment. They must still have Faith in Jesus Christ and repent of all their sins, before the other ordinances will be made available to them. Everyone who is born on this earth, no matter when, or where, they were born, will have one chance and one chance only to hear and understand the complete Gospel of Jesus Christ, and will be given a chance to accept it or reject it as they see fit. Unfortunately, many will reject it because they were deceived here on earth, and therefore will not receive their exaltation in the kingdom of God. But are still considered good people. So they will inherit the Terrestrial kingdom and will get to see Jesus Christ from time to time throughout eternity...This is enough for now...Later
  • Maybe it is, maybe not. But I don't want to go there even temporarily.
