Im thinking the same thing that happen when you put into a glass of water. That would probably not be a good thing to do to a seagull. I wonder if they would immediatley drink water afterwards.

The person who does it should be smacked upside their head...I have heard that it usually kills them if they swallow it.

They say oh what a relief it is. Especially after snagging a sandwich off the beach made by drublic. :) kidding actually they cannot pass the gas so they take a time out in the sand dunes. I think the younger generation seagulls are wise to these shananigins though.

I gave seagulls actual left over bread at the parking lot at work. One of them thanked me by taking a dump on the trunk of my car. I would never feed anything like an Alka Seltzer to an animal. Sounds sadistic. When I was a little kid, I was fascinated with Alka Seltzer. I would take them and drop them in the toilet just to watch them fizz and then flush the evidence away. Later on, I would swipe Tampax from my mother's step-sister and drop those in the john and watch them disintegrate. This was lots of fun too.

You rack up another point in either going to hell or being reincarnated into a Sea Gull so some hapless twit can play lets feed the Sea Gull.... It would cause them pain, and most likely death that would be a painful death, not a quick, clean death. I would discourage ANYONE from doing such a cruel thing to harm any animal...what's the thrill in hurting some animal (or person) eh?

although ive never tried it, ive heard that since birds can't burp, the excess gas fromt the Alka Seltzer will cause their stomach to explode.

They will get sick and in extreme cases, will die. Most will spit it out, just like MTT said. Although the idea of one exploding is a myth/urban legend. Kind of goes back to the UL of the kid that died from eating 'pop-rocks' and drinking cola.

Please do not do that because it falls under the category of cruel and unusual...some people think it's absolutely hilarious but I think it's just plain sick. Seagulls, like many animals, are unable to burb like we humans can. Therefore, as the tablet dissolves in their stomach and releases gas, they have no way to get rid of it and more or less explode as a result.

Most of you that answered this must have no conception of reality. Do birds burp? You betcha. Thus, since seagulls are birds, seagulls burp. So what happens when you feed them Alka Seltzer? 1. Most will spit it out as soon as they realize its not really food. 2. Of those that swallow the tablet(s), most will just regurgitate it back up after a short while. 3. The remaining gulls will just hang out for a while until the gas passes. They don't always swallow it down all the way, so you can watch their throats expand while the tablet is still in the crop. In the end, they just burp it all out. Its more fun to watch them gorge themselves on starfish, large quantities of fresh fish, and/or shellfish. A seagull trying to fly after doing any of these is a funny sight indeed!

THE BIRD DOES NOT EXPLODE PEOPLE SAY THAT BIRDS CANT BURP WELL THAT MAYBE SO BUT THEY CAN CERTAINLY REGURGITATE. SO ALL THAT HAPPEN IS THEY VOMIT A BUNCH OF FOAM AND ARE PERFECTLY HEALTHY AFTERWARDS.
