  • I'm biased because I think most remakes are not as good as the originals.
  • King Kong was good.
  • There are a few exceptions: "Gone in 60 seconds" is one of them; the original has a sudden and open ending. Titanic has been remade numerous times, but modern techniques and high budget makes James Cameron's version the easiest on the eye. "Batman begins" was better than the others, but tmho the storyline deviates to much to call it a remake.
  • I prefer the 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice to the 1940 version.
  • Best example : - Silence of the Lambs - was way better than Manhunter (although Manhunter was still good). Lord of the Rings. The orginal was a cartoon. It did the book absolutely no justice. The films made in the last few years were very good. Titanic and King Kong have been mentioned by others. Their comments are so right. The next ones - are a just better in my opinion but they dont stand out like Silence of the Lambs above did for example:- Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves. Well I prefered it but I did like the originals too. Dracula - Bram Stokers... compared to the originals. Im sure I will think of some more later.... But normally the originals are best.
  • I knew I would think of some more:- Casino Royale - 2006 is way better than the David Niven spoof. Not really a fair comparison. The 1998 Godzilla was a big improvment over the previous versions. (Helps that it was in English). The Fly - Special effects in 1986 are way better than the original Dirty Rotten Scoundrels 1988 with Steve Martin and Michael Caine was so funny. It is a remake of Bedtime Story which starred David Niven and Marlon Brando and I think better. Oceans Eleven - Geroge Clooney - better than Sinatra? I think it was better. Pity about Oceans 12... OK no more from me now
  • I like the new Dawn Of The Dead more than the older original, but the old is a classic.
  • "The getaway"
  • The Lion the witch and the wardrobe, the original went for like 4 hours and was really shoddily done
  • The Sound of Music is a remake of an earlier version that is probably unheard of outside Austria (prove me wrong someone?) Whilst the remake is dieously innaccurate and contrived, it's so much more wonderfully charming than the original (although it helps that the remake is in English, much more charming than German!)
  • I liked "You've Got Mail" better than "The Shop Around the Corner"; which is odd because I really like old movies.
  • THE OMEN 666. So much better than the old one. This one was scarier with the creepy damien kid.
  • The Fast and the Furious and The Longest Yard
  • house on haunted hill it was ace.
  • Oceans Eleven.
  • To me the original is the best of any movie.
  • i LOVE THE VERSION OF PRIDE & PREJUDICE THAT WAS MADE IN THE 40'S WITH MR. DARCY BEING THE MAN THAT STARRED IN WITHERING HEIGHTS. I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A COPY OF THAT MOVIE BECAUSE IT WAS MADE AT A TIME WHEN THE ACTORS AND ACTRESSES GAVE LIFE TO THE CRAFT AND YOU REALLY BELIEVED THAT THE STORY WAS REAL.
  • Most of the remake movies in the 1980 through 1990s are no way as good as the movies made in the 30, 40, & 50s. Perhaps its my age.
  • I am Legend was much better than the Omega man.
  • If you loved the original, chances are you won't like the remake. I did like You've Got Mail (The Shop Around the Corner)--but only because I really enjoy watching Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.
  • 3:10 to Yuma
  • Silence of the Lambs isn't a remake of Manhunt. Red Dragon is a remake of Manhunt...and in my opinion...Manhunt is far superior than Red Dragon.
