It is not possible to stop the email from downloading into Outlook Express, however there are two things you can do so your email messages stay in gmail. In gmail under account settings and then there is an option when you choose the pop category. One of the choices will bee keep gmails copy of message in the inbox. This link https://mail.google.com/mail/h/8qvml2c84itd/?v=prfap should take you right to where you need to bee. The other option is in Outlook Express go to tools then accounts, select your mail account and click properties. On the advanced tab there is an option that will say leave a copy of message on server. If you check this box, then press apply and then ok your email will stay in gmail.
