Try living today on less than $8000 per year...I have and do...isn't social security great? Thank goodness for Medicare and Medicade or I couldn't make it at all.

Consider how much you need to survive for one week Add Rent (R) Utilities: Gas (G) Electric (E) Water (W) Cable (C) Groceries (Gr) Travel Expenses (T) Add a fixed amount you'll feel you'll need for incidentials / emergencies / whatever floats your boat (X). Multiply that by 52. (R+G+E+W+C+Gr+T+X)*52 = There's your answer.

i survive on about 13.000 a year now but i could probable squeak by with 11.000 if i dropped my 2 luxuries (cable with internet and at&t phone)
