Help answer this question below.

I just took my dog to the vet for diarrhea and they prescribed two oral medications. Her anus is completely swollen and red. She isn't able to go to the bathroom. Is there anything ointment that I can give her at home to relieve the pain?

And please explain to me why the vet did not prescribe her anything for pain?
