Gurgle salt water or vinegar to loosen the phlegm and ease the pain; ibuprofen to lower the swelling; have some hot tea and honey (yum!); avoid caffeine or any diuretics that will further dehydrate you!
Force your coughs to further loosen the phlegm; if you smoke, try to hold back but if you can't help it smoke menthols.
Here is what ya do..dont laugh if ya aint tried it..it works..You take a pan of water..(a few cups) you put about 1/2 cup of iodized salt in it..boil the water and salt for about 10 minutes..get a towel or a sock..something clean..put it in that water...now..squeeze the excess water out..and wrap whatever you put in the water around your throat..tadahhh..;)

Tea with honey, cold medicine?
Try gargling with some warm salt water and see if it helps if not you will have to wait for it to come back.Or see a doctor maybe you are coming down with something else.
OOOps....mistake...try ginger tea w/honey & lemon, very easy to make...boiling water over ground ginger, add honey & lemon juice...turn off the AC and use a vaporizor to add humidity to the air in your home...hope it works, next time remember not to drink alcohol when you have to sing the next day...
Botox injection in your vocal chords.
See my answer to your prior question...and...don't smoke and don't talk!!! And, drink lots and lots of water....break a leg, budding musical star!
do you have a cold? were you around a lot of smoke? did you overuse them?
That all matters. If your vocal chords are stressed, then you're probably screwed. If there's phlegm around the chords, chug three or four cold (very cold) Cokes. The carbonation and acid will burn some it out.
Nothing beats Chloraseptic Spray. Don't spray it. Gargle with it. It got me through debate seasons in high school and college.
