Help answer this question below.

I bought a second hand hard drive for my xbox coz i didnt come with one but the second hand hard drive will not save any data or changes made. i think it might have something to do with the data left on it by the last owner of the hard drive...help me:(

when i try to save game data it says select storage device... so i click on 60 gig hard drive but it just keeps saying select storage device... i think it might be something to do with the old owner of the drive because all his data is still on it but it wont let me delete it. please somebody help me i have tried everything i know of:(
