LOL...does it matter really? Have you seen the price of a gallon of water? If we use it to run cars it will certainly become more expensive.
It was done 100 years ago (well, it ran on steam) and was very successful, but the top speed was about 15mph or so in 1902...

Do steam engines count?
I believe many people have tried or are trying to make a car than runs on water based on the fact that they may be able to extract the hydrogen from the water, the only byproduct being oxygen.
The Myth Busters tried it several times and every time they tried they couldn't think of a way to do it, so I'm not sure if it's possible to run a car on water.
I did that last weekend.
Does a truck engine powered by natural gas have a shorter lifespan than an equivalent engine that runs on diesel?
