Looks like some kind of amplifier for either a television or radio. With a name like Telefunken I would think made in Germany. But it could also be some kind of telemarketing box. but these are just guesses.

Maybe an amplifier or old time sound device. Where did you get this?

It is a Telefunken spool tape recorder cum player. Telefunken used to manufacture Valve and Transistor Radio receivers too. They were a very famous brand name in Electronics during the 60s. Wonder what happened to the brand now! Nowhere to be seen these days.
