Why does my 2000 Ford Explorer XLT have such a hard time staying started in cold weather? 2000 Ford Explorer XLT distributor ignition system problems or fuel injection problems??? Can you be specific. Thank you, Heather

    The engine is cold... give it time to warm up...crank it , rev it a lil while on quarter throttle

    Presuming there is no amber SES light on the dash a possible cause is the Engine Temperature Sensor, an ECT reading inaccurate but not enough to set a code. An ECT is relatively cheap and easy to install. The resistance values can be measured prior to replacement to insure that is where the problem lies.
