I have a 1986 vw golf. Car sits most of the time now, but when I jump it off, when I remove cables, the car goes dead. Tried new battery, ran ok for a few days, then same problem, went dead, and has to be jumped off. Then goes de

    The problem is your alternator. It isn't producing enough electricity to run the vehicle. when you remove the jumper cables, the car is on it's own and with the bad alternator it can't run itself.

    may be alternator ,but i would change the cables to the battery first, a little cheaper....
