I can empathise, I've had a few periods of being out of work over the last 5yrs & appreciate how soul destroying the situation can get. It sounds like you need to get things back under control. Set yourself a plan for what you're going to do each day, just like if you were at work. Times to get up, have lunch, application time, relaxation time etc. This should let you focus on the jobs that are most realistic & allow you to put your energy into decent quality applications rather then sending out hundreds. But what I would do first is take a day off, as you NEED to slow it down. Even if it's just packing yourself some lunch & going to the park to read a book, you need to take a break.

You should just try and relax, the way things are at the minute work is pretty scarce, so dont feel disapointed if your not getting anywhere fast. Maybe think about training to do something you enjoy, it will keep you busy, help boost your confidence, and help you meet new people. I hope things get better soon.

I know this is not what you want to hear but it works for me so I'll tell you too. Excersise. It can be at the gym, taking a walk, bike riding, anything that gets you moving. I was frustrated from tax work today, and went to the gym and all my tention faded away. Not kidding. It really does channel your energy, which can suface as nerves or anger, into something more positive.

It is very nerve wracking, and frustrating. I don't blame you a bit. Remember that keeping your health is the most important thing for you right now, and giving in to the panic and stress is not healthy. Don't waste energy beating yourself up. The cause of your unemployment is unimportant. What you do about it is what counts. Be sure to pay more attention to eating healthy foods, more fresh vegetables, fruits, and fish, and walk at least a mile every day. Research free and inexpensive entertainment. Surviving unemployment requires occasional fun. This country is currently facing the worst unemployment rate since 1982. Try to consider doing part time work, or job sharing. Only people with creative ideas or who know someone leaving a job are getting work. There are several places that need workers, such as hospitals and nursing homes. Be prepared to work for minimum wage. Eliminate all non-essentials from your budget temporarily. Nearly 10% of the work force is out of work, but that means that 90% of the people still have jobs, and you will too. Consider the alternatives that are available to your in changing your life style. You might have to share housing with family, or even strangers. This is not the end of the world, just a minor, temporary set back. I have lived through two of these economic crises and I know how hard it seems. Try to keep yourself in a good mood and think about possible solutions rather than concentrating on the old way of doing things. Search for creative employment tips on the internet. Keep in mind that you work for yourself now, and be as conscientious about it as you would if you were working for an employer. Establish a routine. Not having to get up and go to work in the morning may seem like a benefit of unemployment. But without a daily routine, your life can unravel pretty quickly. Make yourself a daily schedule and stick to it. Consider any and all part time work while you are looking for work in your field of expertise. Any work is better than none. Sometimes you can find part time or temporary work in your field of expertise that will turn into full time work. Establish a support system. Even though unemployment is nothing to brag about, talk to your friends and family about your situation. Their support may give you the emotional boost you need to get through this difficult time. Also, they may be able to help you find work, at least on a temporary basis. Take advantage of any free help or advice you are offered. You never know where it could lead. My thoughts and best wishes are with you. Good Luck : - )

If I remember correctly, you are from Michigan? Can you still get OUT of Michigan? If you can you have a better chance. I wish I could give you comforting words but I cannot. I have watched Keysha fight for a job for two years. I guess that all you can do is continue filling in apps, tell yourself that you ARE doing your best, and try to set it aside when you have done all you can for the day. I am certain that you have unemployment and are doing everything you can. As I said, once you have done all you can for the day, try to set it aside by reminding yourself that you have done everything you can that day. You are going to have to find things in your life that are enjoyable, or rediscover them, and you are only going to be able to enjoy them if you can set aside this issue while you do them. Talk to your friends and stay close to friends and family for support. Remind yourself that you are not the only one in this position... it is NOT a lacking on your part. You are not a lesser person because of this. This is NOT your fault. This is the fault of the economy and everyone who screwed it up.

I know this sounds like the exact opposite of what you want to do , but relax. Enjoy life. The bills will still be there, but you only get so many chances in life to relax. Take time to search for a job, but don't let lack of success put you in a place where you can't appreciate the free time. When you et back to work, you will be grateful but wish you had enjoyed the free time more.
