I worked in the kitchen at my mom's cafe and I can assure you I never ate leftover food from a customers plate. There was plenty to snack on in the kitchen.

ew, never ate leftovers
never worked in an inside restaurant, but in a drive-in! once it left the windows, we couldn't take it back. if people got the wrong order, or it wasn't right, down the garbage shoot!
But i can remember making "extra helpings of fries, etc... and once or twice and order came in for a burger but we heard "3 burgers"
I don't know if this helps, but I am hungry now!!
