  • Maybe so but why walk round with dirty stinking stained up teeth if you dont have to? But, whatever floats your boat!
  • because looking after your teeth is important. if you dont then you will get allsorts of problems. you can even get heart disease through not looking after your teeth. and nobody wants bad breath Heart disease is a leading cause of death among men and women. Unfortunately, there seems to be evidence that gum disease can predispose someone to heart disease. This probably happens because the bacteria that causes the gum disease gets into the bloodstream. From there they attach to the fat deposits in the blood vessels. The theory goes that the result can be blood clots or a heart attack. www.gumdisease-treatment.com
  • Because it is a proven fact that when you DON't clean your teeth about twice a day you can develop cavities in your teeth, which will eventually rot them out and cause them to fall out. You can also get gingivitis among other things. People in the 'olden days' cleaned their teeth daily too. They used their fingers or a stick to clean their teeth. Tooth 'paste' has also been around for over 1500 years. Ancient Egyptians were geniuses: "In faded black ink made of soot and gum arabic mixed with water, an ancient Egyptian scribe has carefully described what he calls a "powder for white and perfect teeth"." http://www.toothpasteworld.com/facts.htm
  • In the time before dental care, people in general had shorter life spans. Teeth weren't needed for as long. Now life spans are longer, and people running around with half their teeth missing from lack of brushing and flossing is not socially acceptable. 100 years ago there was no internet, should we go back to that, because they survived without it? Nope, progress is made, and lives are improved because of it.
  • Once a day is fine. I'd rather have nice white teeth and nice smelling breath. And I don't like being round people with dirty teeth and bad breath. Plus your mouth feels nice and fresh when you brush your teeth :-)
  • yes but before toothpaste people lost their teeth at a young age, died younger and probabky the main point DIDN'T EAT ALL THE REFINED 'C**P' we do to day, if you lived purely on veg and nuts you probably wouldn't need to clean your teeth 2 or 3 times a day. But if you want bad breath and lots of fillings feel free not to clean. Also...yes toothpaste is not that old, but if you read some of chaucer's tales there are referances to chewing on fennel and licorique to freshen the breath, so even back then, they knew of the importance of not stinking if you want to have friends!
  • because it is very important to have healthy teeth. what if you kiss someone and after wards they say it felt as if a ferret died inside.
  • In order to encourage people to use more toothpaste so that they'll have to buy more?
  • Get a couple of fillings and you will be flossing also. You can just have your teeth pulled.
  • Look at all the paintings from before just over 100 years ago...you don't see many toothy smiles...because they had rotten teeth and they artist wouldn't have painted that in. Their hygiene was less that wonderful too, so perhaps you could stop bathing more than once or twice a month too. I suppose that was why they had body lice and fleas and other vermin, could be why they had plagues and such other illnesses too... This is all leading back to why do these things? Because being physically clean means less disease, keeping your teeth clean means you get to keep your teeth intact till you die of old age, perhaps around 90 to 100 years old, rather than dying of old age after a disease riddled life with rotten stumps in your mouth poisioning your system at about 50 or 60. *She pauses for breath panting*
