You're reading Why is it that the first ford truck gets roughly 18 miles to the gallon.... but the new trucks (2009) still only get 18 mpg... why is that, yeah the paint is nice but what about everything else?
Comments
in the four cly they had back then the trucks only weighed about 800 hundred lbs gvw. Now with them pushing 3500 ++ gvw it takes a v8 to power that weight and still have that crappy mpg.Yes the old fords did 18 to the gallon. So there really isn't a Gas To Mile ratio improvement at all

the GVWR of my 04 f-150 was 8200 lbs 5800 lbs unladen with a full tank and my fat a** in it. the fact is even though mpg is similar, horsepower per ci is improved. a 1970 f-150 was a 1/4 ton pu meaning it could haul 500lbs. the 04 I had could haul 2400 lbs. mpg is the same but duty is is more than doubled

they have if a 1970 tech truck was as capable as the 09 it would get 8-12 mpg
