Help answer this question below.

Is pot sometimes called "420" since that was Adolf Hilter's birthday? Did Hitler smoke dope?

    4:20 was code for the time to go smoke pot after school. I grew up in San Rafael, California where that originated. I was told that it came about in the early 1970's and it just stuck.

    It has nothing to do with Hitler.

    "Dr." Theodor Morell filled Hitler full of the most amazing drug concoction, including cocaine, morphine, belladonna, steroids, amphetamines, e coli (I know... he thought that e coli was good for you??), and more... but not pot.

    he did take medication though that was abused
    he didnt have much of a choice though
    near the end of his time in office he was constantly drugged up and directed to what others wanted

    Maybe, but I've heard the whole 4:20 deal is really quite simple. I have heard that a group of high school kids in San Rafael, CA back in the 60's or so, would go meet in the middle of town by this statue at 4:20 after school and smoke a joint or what have you. Pretty soon word got around I guess. My buddy is a cop in San Rafael, and he's the one that told me and contrary to belief. I'm pretty sure 420 is not the police code for marijuana.

    whoa whoa whoa, everyone chill out here, you are all wrong

    on 4/19 a doctor, forgot his name created/discovered LSD, so on 4/20 that was the first time anyone took a deliberate hit of acid, thus memoralizing 420, so in the 60's many people did acid and weed, and the term got intermingled in drug termanology

    I have never heard anyone call pot 420. 420 is the national time to smoke up. April 20th is the national day to get high. Where does this come from?.. Hmm.. I dont know who penned the term, but Method man used to rap about it way back in the day, and there is even a comic book named 420 with the superhero named Captain Cannabis. (I read that somewhere) Anyways, it doesnt begin there... It begins at 4:19... got a minute? :)

    I think 4:20 is a mystery.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/420_(cannabis_culture) (you may have to put the end parenthesis on, AB seems to want to separate it) the main one listed there is the most common one I've seen.
    The talk page talks about hitler a little bit, but points out that, you know, 6 million other people share the same birthday and there's no reliable source that says that it has anything to do with hitler.

    I tend to think of it more as a time than a date, because when I lived in a party-college-town, we'd get a lot of people in mcdonalds about quarter to 5, like "Hey... could I get... a mcchicken... and some taco sauce. Do you have taco sauce? And a chocolate shake. Yeah. A chocolate shake."
