Big bang theory. I think there were black holes compacting matter till there was only one massive black hole compacting so much matter exploded. If that was the case there would have been more than 1 big bang and more to come. What do you think?

• Actually, the Big Crunch Theory has been abandoned my mainstream science. It's been measured and calculated that the total mass of the universe isn't enough to slow the acceleration of dark energy by the force of gravity. That means everything's flying apart and won't ever come back together.

• A source about the CONSENSUS OF SCIENCE??? How 'bout the Internet. Excluding stuff about UFO's and crystal energy. Besides, science isn't about lab coat guys voting on something, it's about rational empiricism (I'm a Karl Popper fan). Dark energy makes up some 75% of the matter/energy in the entire observable universe. (And by that, I just mean the stuff we actually can/do see, not "The Observable Universe.") Since gravity is only a fraction of the extant forces, which is only a percentage of the rough remaining quarter of stuff in the universe... (and... I know a lot is dark matter, which DOES affect the Total Gravity...) then there simply isn't enough mass and gravity to stop, let alone reverse, let alone SLOW the expansion caused by dark energy to produce anything other than a Big Freeze.
  
  The thought depresses me. I'd vote for Eternal Recurrence, if it were a vote. But... the universe sucks. Sorry. :)

  I wasn't ranting; I just talk long. But geez... coming from the old school, I'd say that a position stands on it's own merit regardless of its origin.
  
  And furthermore, an opinion is about an interpretation of fact. I believe what I said was big on verifiable fact, and small on opinion, really. (If you think about it.)
  
  Why are you so defensive about the work of others? Was that... YOUR article you're referencing. Or are you just loathe to admit the... shall I say falsifiability??... of your position. That you just CAN'T be wrong??
  
  Now that's REAL scientific.
  
  This stands on Answerbag on it's own. I'll let anyone else who happens by be the judge of our respective arguments. That's the best you can do with someone who'd rather address you instead of your position.
