Felines are prone to chuffing (especially big cats, but domestic cats are known to display this behavior as well), which is one of the ways in which they smell the air. Your cat may be incorrectly assuming that you smell something dangerous, and as such is scared.
You are scaring her maybe, stop sniffing her.
you are disturbing her.
maybe it's her way of saying "shush..."

maybe she's talking to you, agreeing with you in her cute little kitty mind.
