Yes, and if hooked up correctly it can't play a video dvd while in gear... However it does play Music DVDs, One Disc last quite awhile...
My DVD player is a Kenwood KVT 617-dvd it is amazing

No i believe it's a distraction to the driver. I seen that the other day. The guy was watching music video in his car. Bad enough with the cell phones which we all have.

No, and I think they are a *terrible* idea.
I understand parents who want to tranquilize their children so that they can get on with the business of driving.
But I think it feeds into our short-attention-span 'Here we are now, entertain us' culture.
It believe it does children some good to have to sit quietly with only their own thoughts (or conversation with family members, Yuck!...;-D...). It gives them a chance to learn patience and introspection.
