Why do nail/pedicure salons have their staff wear face masks but not offer one for the client who is also breathing in the fumes?

The only thing I could think of, is one breathes it in all day long the other only until it dries. The smell eminating from those places is horrible. I can't walk by one in the mall without gagging. I'm pretty sensitive to those type of things.

The masks are not for fumes but for the powder that flies up during filing. You are not exposed to the powder day in and day out. That is why you don't need a mask.
