No but when they do street repairs they find them and the old trolley line rails. They even found a few years ago logs with holes bored through them that were the first water pipes in town.

sort of.. they aren't 'left', they are new cobblestone streets with new lanterns that are suppose to give an 'old' look to the area.

    No. :(

I know of a town thought where a lot of money went into NEW cobblestone .. quite a lot of it .. to make an entire area of a town look more as it did about 300 years ago.

And we think it's just CLOTHING fashions that come and go .. what's old is new again!

Yes, they tore up a section of our main street to replace it with cobblestone. It gives the downtown core that old world feeling.

I don't know of any cobblestone ones but we have a few brick ones.
Our town probably isn't old enough for cobblestones and our area doesn't "grow rocks"* like many do.

    * Rocks and stones in the soil raise to the surface over time. When I lived in North Dakota the farmers had to pick them off their fields every Spring. The heaving of the ground due to freezing and thawing, etc. made them rise. Can really be hard on machinery!!! (just a side note)

    redcatt63 is around here somewhere......

There are a few here and there. There is the Laclede's Landing area on the St. Louis Riverfront that still has cobblestones. Just outside of St. Louis county, Historic Main Street in St. Charles (the original capitol of Missouri) is still cobblestone. There may be a few other cobblestone/brick streets scattered around, but I think most have been paved over now.
