170 square inches could have an infinite amount of dimensions. If you want it to be 10 inches one way, then the other measurement must be 17 inches.

If you have to keep 170 square inches, first determine what length one side needs to be. Then to determine the length of the second side, divide 170 by the length of the first side.

Measure out 13.0358 inches square. to get the square inch in the total square footage you multiply side x side...right? So...13.0358 x 13.0358 = 170...And I am totally pulling this out of who knows where. :)

A tabloid paper or ledger paper is 11 x 17 (187 sq. in.). So for 170 sq. in, cut 1 in off of the width of this paper, OR cut about 1.55 off of the length of it for 170 sq. in.
