  Did you know there are Quantum Leap paperback books out there with new stories in them? (just like there've been Star Trek novels for a long time now)

• Sliders interested me, but I never got around to watching it. With Stargate, as much as liked Richard Dean Anderson as MacGyver, I wasn't a huge fan of the movie and thus didn't feel the desire to watch the series.

• Turned out I liked both the concept and the ensemble cast on Stargate SG-1. I'm only now watching .. bit by bit .. the follow on Stargate Atlantis. Also watching Battlestar Gallactica. But I'm vearing off the topic! lol

• It was actually fun to think about scifi shows in that way. The formula, if you will, was to see the main cast in a different "place and time" each week .. then .. see what issues or interactions came up, what they would do, etc.
  The Sliders cast literally "slid" through a worm hole to the next time/place - always hoping to slide their way back home. And of course, Sam on Quantum Leap was always home to "leap" back home .. just as the Star Trek folks .. especially Voyager .. wondered if they would ever get back home again.
  Anyway .. just a tiny list of LOTS of scifi shows I like.

  And you're right about going someplace real .. unless we're talking about the news or a documentary. Even the reality shows are staged to be "entertaining" reality shows.
  As for the rest? Sure. Fiction. Entertainment. Some of it mindless. Some of it very informative. Some of it absorbing. Some of it just plain fun. Kinda like other parts of life. LOL

• Notice I didn't list Enterprise. In my mind, that's that even in the ST family! lol
  But of the zillions of scifi/fantasy shows, it was fun to list these that each took us to a different setting each week.
  Thinking of time travel on the original Star Trek? Whoa - there was that wonderful episode when Kirk and Spock went back in time and "of course" Kirk fell for the beautiful woman who was supposed to die. Was she at a soup kitchen or Salvation Army or some such? Sounding silly here since I just have "impressions" of it in my mind's eye. Liked it a lot though.

• I remember the time travel episode but couldn't begin to fill in the details about Kirk's love interest in that episode. I knew none of them would survive to a subsequent episode.

  I think each of the four Star Trek shows had its merits. I watched all of them. Hated the most recent Enterprise & left that right off the list. Just doesn't belong with "the family". All in all, some pretty creative storylines in both Quantum Leap and the Star Trek shows. :)
