sounds like a job i worked at once, i was in charge of the register from midday to close, owner ran from open to midday and then came at close to count the register print the receipts and lock up.
here's the thing, when he worked instead of putting the money in the draw he put it in his pocket, made change from the draw some times and from his pocket others, his entered prices and claimed he'd correct at end of day, etc.
when i came in midday i was not allowed to count register or print receipts (they only print once then erase from machine) and at the end of the day he started saying the count was wrong and deducting the "difference" from my pay
I quit.
how can i be taking blame for the count being wrong when he's playing around like this. and considering his other business practices he was probably lying to short change me.

Yes I think it is. You are in charge that shift so it is your responsibility.

You're reading I am working for a corporate company as a manager and the boss decided that when ever the register is short money that it will be taken out of the managers paycheck that worked that shift. Is it legal for them to do this?
