Help answer this question below.

How would you handle this: You're talking to a friend when someone else comes along that knows your friend but you don't know them. Your friend starts talking to the other person and suddenly is like you ceased to exist even if you speak again?

    They are both displaying poor manners to exclude you like that. However, that is no excuse to act that way yourself. Just quietly excuse yourself from the situation by saying something like 'I will just leave the two of you to get on with what you are doing.' Then walk away and be busy with something else.

    You say, "I'm sorry, I don't think we've met. I'm [Jane Smith]." You do this before entering the conversation.

    You are permitted to give your original friend a pained smile to say "Thanks for being so inconsiderate as to not introduce me."

    If they make no effort to include you in the conversation, after a few gallant attempts on your part, say something like "I'm just going to go into this store while you chat - see you in a minute." Unless they protest, go do it - and don't come back.

    That will teach them some manners without you being rude.
