  • NO! Of course not! I'm 13 and thinking of starting it again soon. Just make sure you're in your own age group because if you're with a whole bunch of little kids, you WILL feel out of place.
  • Nope! never, it is never too old to start something new. It will only be old if you make yourself feel that way.
  • It's never too old to start. Although, it may be too old to expect to become an Olympic contender.
  • (That reminded me of the Simpsons show with the gymnastic people :)) No. But I heard that it's better to start when you're 7 or something.
  • No, but you'll probably have a harder time with it.
  • No, it's not too old. There was a 15 year old in my gym [started gymnastics at 15]who went up to competing level 7 [level 11 is elite--and olympic level] before graduating high school. She is now a level 9/going into 10. I am 14, and a level 4. I started when I was 12. It's pretty crazy since everyone is my group is about half my age [and size]. But it's fun, and rewarding. I found I progressed faster since older kids have a better attention span. I say go for it. The only reason people say "too old" is because your prime in gymnastics is around the ages 15-19. In order to be at the highest level possible, you should start earlier so that when you reach that age your at your top. Is you're not going to make it into a career, it is in no way too old. Your body is perfectly ready, and in it's top physical condition right now.
  • 15 is definatly not too old to start gymnastics. I know of people who haven't started training until their 30's, 40's or even 50's and they still progressed onto learn some incredible skills. 15 is also not too old to become a highly competitive gymnast. You will find you progress a lot faster at 15 than you would have if you started at a younger age and will be able to condense several years training into a year or so. Because you are older you will be better able to concentrate for a longer time, understand your coaches instructions more easily, have a better level of coordination and will be stronger so skills will come faster to you. You may find it difficult to gain flexibility, but if you work hard at it and put some time into streching at home, the flexibility will come. But strength is even more important than flexibility in gymnastics and you will no doubt gain strength much easier than a little kid. However, if you want to train with others your age you will find this difficult. There are not a huge number of teenage males involved in the sport of gymnastics and those who are have often been doing it for several years. You will probabaly find at first that you will either have to train with younger kids or adults.
  • Yea I agree, IF you start older, you will understand it more and quickly and you can maybe easiER to do it, but you really hav to practice it really hard, more than other gymnast. Well, if you want to get into the Olympic Games, maybe you will really hav to wait for Eight years maybe? only to get selected to Olympic Games.
  • If you are Chinese yes you're passed it....
