Please explain how a little socialist policy is wrong when unrestrained capitalism caused this problem?
Capitalism under the proper regulation and appropriate tax policies is a good thing. Capitalism without restraint ALWAYS results in a depression and extreme distribution of wealth with multimillionaires minority one side, poverty for the minority and a greatly diminished middle class.
by Ron C on March 16th, 2009
Socialism, in all doses, is bad for America. Capitalism is the key to success with a democracy. Corruption has become so rampant in our society that capitalism has been made into a teeming cess pool that was kept under wraps for a long time. By the fact that Obama is choosing or at least allowing socialism to creep in, he is, in fact, admitting that he chooses to go with socialism instead of reform capitalism. Corruption must be minimized for capitalism to work as our Founding Fathers intended. Socialism can stomach copious amounts of corruption.

There is one quote that sums up the bigger issue of the rise and fall of civilizations. Civilization begins when the power of love replaces the love of power. You need only invert that quote to realize the destiny of a nation bent on raw power, and the underlying reliance on money to solve all our problems.
by Dmitri on March 16th, 2009
I am very intrigued as to how things will be in 2012. Will America see Obama as not the one they thought he was and realize their error, and go with someone less socialistic, or give Barack four more years? There is still hope.
by Dmitri on March 16th, 2009
The way things are going with Obama, within his first six months people will start to realize that Obama is a very big mistake and he will only be a one term president. Let's hope. :-)

Just imagine if it were John McCain and the dumbest govener in the U.S. His decision was to keep doing what we've been doing. At least we have a guy with a plan.
by Ron C on March 16th, 2009
Oh yeah, Obama sure has a plan alright. He plans to totally destroy America as we know it and turn us into a socialist country. That sure sounds like a great plan, huh.
Welcome to the new USSR. United States Socialist Republic
by 1858 Remington 1-21-13 on March 16th, 2009
That attitude is scary. It's too late for Obama to destroy the U.S. Bush got their first. Everything he touched was degraded or destroyed. That includes, economic, education, science, international diplomacy, and even the justice department.
Bush makes Benedict Arnold look like a patriot.
by Ron C on March 16th, 2009
No, Bush didn't destroy America, It's the damn liberal democrats running the country that's destroying America and now Obama wants to install his radical socialist agenda. Yeah, that's really scary. Get the facts straight.
Most Americans felt safe while Bush was president, now with Obama as our president, we're not feeling safe any more.
Barack Hussein Obama - First President of the new USSR.
Yup, I sure hope my attitude is scary, yup, I sure do!
by 1858 Remington 1-21-13 on March 16th, 2009
The PROGRESSIVES haven't been in power for ages. The neocons have had veto power for the previous eight years. They they have controlled the agenda and passed their own laws throughout the Bush years. They started two wars, are directly responsible for the deaths of more than 5000 American soldiers, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, and loss of respect for our country throughout the world, and you call Obama dangerous.
I suspect that "conservatives" think he's dangerous because he's not an old southern white guy. I'm not religious but I am tempted to pray that people that think like you never regain power. The U.S. has fallen far, with neocons back in power we are likely to hit the bottom and sink in to the mud of history.
by Ron C on March 17th, 2009
You're DAMN right I'm calling Obama dangerous. With him signing the stimulus bill, that put America in debt for generations to come. With Obama getting soft with the terrorists (yeah, I still call them terrorists, is there a problem with that?) is putting America in jeopardy of being attacked on our soil again. Bush kept us safe, Obama is putting us in harms way, and that's dangerous. For the last two years of Bushes administration the damn liberal democrats has been in control of congress and that's when the problems started.
You say that we killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis? Now that is ashame, we should of killed millions of Iraqis.
Now Ron, let's get one thing straight here. The conservatives are NOT playing the race card here, the damn liberals are. Like I said before, get your damn facts straight. We don't like Obama because of his radical agenda, not the color of his skin. YES, Obama is very dangerous. And now for some strange reason, lots of democrats are seeing that.

Remington, if you have a corner, I am there with a water bottle and a cold rag after each round. Go get em, champ!
by Dmitri on March 17th, 2009
Hey Daijin, Thank's for being there on my side, but no, I don't claim no corner, I'm standing center ring and holding steadfast. (that way I have my choice of all four corners, you know, for justin case.) Well get enough people together and start our own brigade. :-) Do you know about the Tea Parties coming up on April 15? America is fighting back and those who support Obama will be the ones that will be hit the hardest. :-)

Americans have a shorter attention span than I thought. O.K., I get that you don't like the stimulus plan. What is the alternative? I think I will make this a question. It deserves a wider audience than just the comment section.
by Ron C on March 18th, 2009
That works too, Remington. I do now know about them. I will try to corral as many troops for our cause, old friend! While I do, we need a name for this brigade of ours, huh? We can both brainstorm on that and get back to the other when we got a good one. I believe an alternative would be what Bush did at the start of his initial tenure. He had tax cuts, instead of stimulus package after stimulus packages.
by Dmitri on March 18th, 2009
OK Ron, this will be plain and simple, because that looks like it will be the only way you will be able to understand it. "What is the alternative?" Well Ron, the alternative is "free enterprise", "Capitalism", "Smaaaaaal G o v e r n m e n t" (I'll type it slow so you can grasp onto it) and do you know what really works? "Tax Cuts". WOW, such a simple solution, and guess what Ron, IT DOES WORK.
So Ron, you can make this a question and see what happens, but you will find out the the cards are stacked against you.
by 1858 Remington 1-21-13 on March 18th, 2009
Daijin, things are in the works all over America because people just like us are getting tired of this redistribution of wealth, nationalized medicine, giving bonuses to failed AIG employees, and the thought of loosing their businesses and wealth to big government. The Tea Parties will be on April 15, and that's just the start. :-)
by 1858 Remington 1-21-13 on March 18th, 2009
Amazing, Remington. Where have I heard that before? Small government, tax breaks, big bonuses for the guys that put us here. I think I heard little george say that. What we got were tax breaks for the top 1%, stagnant or lower wages for people that actually work for a living, Homeland Security, and the biggest expansion of government in history. Oh, I almost forgot a medicare drug plan that pays retail for drugs and a provision to prevent pressuring drug company for quantity discounts. Oh yea, I feel safer. We went from a country that was, at least, respected to one that had a government like one of those African dictatorships and the laughing stock of the world.
by Ron C on March 18th, 2009
That is certainly good news, Remington! (passes remington water bottle, gives him a pep talk, and pushes him back into the ring) :)
