Is it necessary for airlines to installed compact parachutes underneath passengers seats?

    It is impracticable because it takes a lot of courage to jump out of an aeroplane with a parachute and I would say that the majority of passengers would freeze with fear.Stood in a doorway 10,000 feet up in the air and having to jump would put most people off.Can you imagine the confusion of 200 passengers all trying to fasten on a parachute all at once.

    It would be a nice touch but by the time passengers would get them on it probably would be too late. I've been through the drill on cruise lines and it isn't a quick procedure.
