    One person I know said bow ties are only for boys, until they're 12 or maybe 15/16 or something. Then they shall change to neck tie, this person said.

    But some have to wear it as a part of their uniform at work, instead of a neck tie. They may work in some hotels, restaurants or as domestic workers.
