Question

Help answer this question below.

Wondered this for a long time. What determines the color & size of the colored part around womans nipples? I think it is hair color, because blond women I know it is pale & dark haired it is dark. True? Also bigger breasts means bigger colored area?

Not sure if hair color has anything to do with it. I think maybe skin color might as to color. Seems to me darker complected women are darker there. As to size, Maybe a relationship, although I have seen photos and women who were small with large areolae (colored part) and women who were fairly large with small areolae.

It's individual I think. Not sure one can generalize, but I can be wrong here. Maybe some women who know much more than me will chime in. And maybe not.

I am a redhead, My complexion is very light(I use "porcelain ivory" or lightest ivory" foundation), my areolas are light pink and the size.... well it blends into the rest of my breast... there is no clear line of demarcation!

The size of the areola is genetically dependant.
Some women who have very small breasts will have very large areolas. Some small chested women will have small areolas and large nipples. Some larger chested, full-figured women will have tiny nipples and tiny areolas..... it can go just about any way because it's genetic. Even mens nipples are different sizes with different sized areolas! It's all in the genetic soup!

The color has to do with your skin color....
The amount of melanin in your skin depicts the color... it's an under tone and the hue is concentrated at the areolas and the under tone may be:

Brown: African Americans, deep complexed Indians, It's already brown and it will darken in the sun. It can sunburn(though I have been told it is not likely). People in this category usually have naturally dark hair, dark brown to deep black. Their nipples will typically be 1-2 shades darker than their other skin.

Olive: Most mediterranean people have olive-toned skin. This is the skin most Latinas have and a lot of mixed-race people as well. It tans easily, and it's resistant to sunburn. It's medium-dark. These people typically have medium to dark brown hair.Their nipples will be a slighty darker olive shade than the rest of their skin.

Yellow: light to medium skin tones... most caucasians have yellow under tones. Asians fit into this category also. It can tan, it can burn it's a well-situated skin tone. People in this skin tone can have blonde to very dark brown or black shades of hair. Nipples are almost always some shade of brown light to dark.

Pink: very light skin tones to reddish tints. sun burns very easily, hard to tan... Hair is typically strawberry blonde to dark auburn. Pink undertones result in pink nipples (different shades of course)

~{Redheads almost always have very light skin with pink undertones.. this is because of the three pigments in hair color: Blue, Yellow, and Red.... Blue is most dominant and contains the highest amounts of melanin. Yellow contains the least amount of melanin. Red is in the middle, but for hair to be red, there must be very little or no blue pigment; little or no blue means very little melanin and because the distribution throughout hair and skin are copesetic, the skin will be light. (bleh) so, yes, hair color has some relation to the color of your nipples.}~

    Hope this helps!

  • It's the type of melanin that it's composed of. If you have a lot of pheomelanin, then it will be reddish pink. If you have a lot of brown eumelanin, then it will be brown. The same holds true for the areola (the area surrounding the nipple).

well as weird as this sounds my sister has very large breasts and are very dark areas and they are relativily tiny, and we are cracker milk white! i have big breasts with can size area color and its about a toast tan, ( weird explanation i know) i think its all about how fast the women developes her breasts honestly, there really is no answer to your question that can be right, because it is still unsure why to this day they are different colors.

its to do with your geneoligy. which also leads to skin pigmintation. but you can still have dark skin and light nipples, because you may have a double reccessive gene blah blah blah....its too hard to explain

I'm just wondering about my heritage....light tan nipples, half dollar size, 36D, extremely light ivory complected without sun, but I tan very well and quicky if I do tan....I burn very little..... hazel or green olive to forest green eyes.....thick brown hair, but it shines auburn in the sun.....I would just love to know what culture has that.....I don't really look completely white....but I am very pale....but when I get a tan I look indian for sure with green eyes and medium brown hair that looks reddish in the sun.....I love the US, except for the fact of trying to keep up with your heritage is a pain.....we all seem to be mutts...

I am not sure what determines, if you need to know you can see the natural colour of the person's lips, it is very close to their nipples and genital colour. Applies to guys and their genitals too. :)

I'm wondering if it has something to do with the amount of iron in your diet. Iron affects the colour of blood, and therefore should affect the colour of sensitive skin areas [nipples, gums, lips, etc].
I have mediterranian heritage, and quite olive/tan skin, but I've got pale nipples and pale lips/gums.
I'm physically very similar to my brother, a year older than me, but I eat very little meat, and have an iron deficiency. He has much darker lips/gums/nipples compared to me, and enjoys his lamb, pork, and beef.
It's also seen in my mom, who has an iron deficiency, but not as bad as mine..

    Could I be right?

I know that women's nipples change colour while they are pregnant and after the pregnancy, while lightening in colour, usually stay darker than the pre-pregnancy colour. It's to do with hormonal balance. In the old days (1800s, 1700s), the doctors sometimes announced pregnancy based on the colour of the woman's nipples!

I'm a natural blonde with very pale and my nipples are very pale, just slightly darker than my skin. The areolas (round bit) are quite large, while the actual nipples don't get hard unless I'm cold or aroused. And the right areola is slightly larger than the left - probably because my right breast is larger, due to a larger muscle - right is my dominant hand.

So I do follow your idea, but I don't think everyone's nipples do - it's all to do with genetics, really.
    Hope this helps.

I am olive skinned, and have very dark brown hair. My breasts are a 36D, but my nipples aren't that long. My nipples are just darker olive/light brown, and the areola (sp) are not all that big, and are just a bit darker than my skin. I tan very easily.
