"Barrack Obama is being "toted as the "First African American President" - but he is only 1/2 black. Does that matter to African Americans?

He's got a whole helluva lot more black in him than any other damned president in the history of the United States, enough so that several White Supremacists in the Pacific Northwest insist on calling him a "Ni**er" despite him only being 1/2. And for many southern states I'm considered a "colored" person for my ancestry's mix. So yes, he's black.

This quetsion has come up a bunch of times. I'm sure you can use the search to find better answers but.. 1.) The south and it's One Drop Rule (while many don't subscribe to this, there are just as many who do..) 2.) He looks black. 3.) He probably would have been laughed at/looked at kinda funny if he tried to claim his white side. 4.) He calls himself black. 5.) He identifies with Black culture/history. 6.) His wife and children are black...this atcually has nothing to do with anything, but whatever. 7.) You don't know what his mom had in her, but I doubt she was "pure" white. So he may not be Black and White. She could have had a black or native american ancestor... Many (Black) Americans know what his racial makeup is...and honestly, it doesn't matter. He identifies with Black culture/history, looks black, and calls himself Black.
