plasmas are power hogs and will heat your home. LCDs wont. dont buy either. wait till laser tv's come out
They do dull very gradually with use because the phosphors used to create color break down. It takes thousands of hours of viewing for that to happen, and is *exactly* the same issue that CRT (tube)-type TV's have. Plasma displays and CRTs both use the same type of phosphors (I'm pretty sure).
I don't think plasma displays are any higher resolution, but they probably do have better contrast ratio than LCD's. However, the new LCDs are pretty good, especially the ones with LED backlights.. their contrast ratio rivals plasma displays.
There are other measurements too, I'm sure... color saturation and so on. You might want to visit a home theater web site. They are likely to have lots of reviews of the different display types, including DLP as well.
Good luck.

You're reading Hey folks. Question about TV's - I hear that plasma's have higher quality/resolution, etc. than LCD's. But is it true that plasma's burn out/dim or dull eventually? If so, how is that? Is it the same concept as one of those glow sticks in a way?
