Help answer this question below.
Youre not supposed to wash your car with it because it breaks down the wax.
Please do not use anything other than a quality car was to was your pride and joy.
The surfactants in dishwashing liquid are far to har for you vehicles paint and wax.
I like the shampoo idea, I tried it just now. Now my car looks like it has a lot more shine and volume.
Dish washing liquid will remove the wax from your car. What I have been told by my dealer and friends who own a car wash it isn't a good idea. They also recommend using lambs wool to dry with.
Car soap only please....dish soap is for scrubbing your dirty dishes with, and is harsh on your paint...but not on your plate...lol
It's always a bad idea from what I've learned. If you do something properly, you will be better off. Dish soap strips wax, doesn't clean glass very well, and isn't made for all of the different materials on a vehicle. Also, it is designed to generally be used with hot water (where cars are normally washed with cold), it is designed to clean porcelain, tupperware plastic, etc. and it breaks down food. Car soap is very specially formulated to protect the paint in that it floats away all of the dirt, acting as a layer of protection between the two.
For the extra few bucks it costs, just use the right soap.
no its full of crorosive chemicals and degergants . only use a propriatory car body cleaner and shampoo
NO IT CONTAINS SALT WHICH SCRATCHES THE PAINTWORK
All of the major dish soap manufactures, Procter & Gamble, Colgate/Palmolive etc., all state on their web sites not to use their products to wash a car. These detergents will strip the finish off of the vehicle especially if used repeatedly. You should always use a soap designed to wash a car. Many car wash products can be rather inexpensive and when you think of the cost of wax and time that it takes to apply, using the right product the first time makes sense. Soap Warehouse is a distributor of quality detergents www.soapwarehouse.biz.
my dad washed his cars with dawn. lol. but he's color blind and likes flat paint colors. he never got to see the pretty shines of waxed cars.
Shampoo is great, any 2 in 1 shampoo+conditioner works best for me.
No, never use dish soap, it does break down the wax and is not made for painted surfaces. If you can't buy carwash liquid, then at least use hair shampoo. (not one of those 2 in one shampoos, like Pert) Always make sure that all shampoo or carwash soap is rinsed off before drying the car.
Apart from removing the wax as mentioned by others, you should not use it on windscreens. It will make the glare much worse as it leaves a sheen.
If you wash it off thoroughly then I dount if it is gonig to do any major harm if you occasionally use it. But much better to buy stuff designed for washing the car.
it's funny how the detergent company tells you how gentle it is on your hands and one jerk just got 11 points for telling you it breaks down the wax.now you see why Nuclearkitten is so pissed off with the ratings system.
it's a shitty car you are washing, not a newborn baby.
No! Dish Washing Liquid will remove the car wax. Only use it as a "primer" before waxing. If you are only going to wash the car, use only car wash liquid.
please tell me the recipe use in the production of Dish Washing liquid soap . Thanks Namy
.........If you are the 1 in 12 who wax their car 3 times a year use a car wash soap. For the 92% of us who don't use these unesesary wax products the car really doen't care if your hands look twenty years younger by using Dove for dishes in you bucket.
Nope washing up liquid as said strips off protective wax n polish on car paint it also drys out thr rubber seals on screen windows etc causing splitting and cracking.
If you are going to spend $ on soap and labor washing, spend them well. The new Turtle Wax Ice car washing liquid washes and waxes in one operation; I think it is a really good product. I have also used the Turtle Wax Ice car polish/wax which is really great; it goes on so easy, there is very little rubbing/polishing/buffing to do, and it really shines. Rain-X is great for windshields; you hardly need wipers after you apply it - the water just beads up and runs/blows away.
Tide works wonders
If you put hard or paste wax on your car, It's going to take something strong like dishwashing liquid to remove it.
If you want your car thoroughly cleaned, Yes
If you don't have wax or some other contaminate on your paint, avoid using any kind of soap on your paint. All soap will dull acrylic paint over time.
