Who receives the profit from text message votes on reality TV show?

    The phone company take their share and the rest goes to the show you are texting to help make up the prize money.

    If a portion is going to charities they will tell you this on the show.

    Sometimes they also give a proportion of the profits to a charity

    From what I have read, a proportion goes to the phone company, and a proportion to the show.
    But it would work as well if only the phone company got the profits, as usually they are a major sponsor of the show, thus contributing with advertising.
