Yes. Societal pressure for them to lose it and "become a man." it's all crap, but some guys are very caught up in it and feel weird if they are still virgins at age 15-16 even. It is too bad. It's like women should have breasts or their periods by a certain age. It is different with different people. Young adults need alot less pressure of this kind.

Peer Pressure... It's usually around 16-18, but guys (that I've known) think that losing their virginity is the #1 priority in life (Which I think is hilarious), and they are all "Wait wtf? You're still a virgin?" to me, and I'm only 17 :D Honestly, I have more important things in my life to worry about than having sex for the sake of it... I don't know why other people don't :D

Have you seen the 40 Year Old Virgin? I think it shows how males act toward each other. I really felt sad for the man, because he was a really nice guy and the other insensitive "experienced" guys made him feel bad. I couldn't even finish watching it.

I guess there's a difference. There's the people who have made the concious choice to wait for the right one; who have had the opportunity - maybe even plenty of times - but simply just haven't given in and want to save that first time for someone special. Absolutely no reason for them to feel ashamed. Then there's losers like myself who - in my case at age 25 - just never actually managed to even get a date. I feel ashamed, inadequate and unattractive - which isn't exactly helping, since my complete lack of confidence just makes me that much more shy and unattractive.

Because, it's like a rite of passage to manhood. It's showing that you are the man. It's like that since ever. When your friend kisses a girl for the first time and you haven't yet, you get jealous. When your friend makes out with a girl, and you only kissed a girl, then you get jealous. When a girl gives your friend head, and you haven't even had your 'equipment' played with, you get jealous, etc....
