Sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll were predominant in both eras. BUt in the 60's the youth wanted to make a difference in the world. In the 80's the youth just wanted to party like rock stars!

It was all about sex, drugs and rock and roll in the 80,s and all the 80,s music that came out was more party music then the 60,s.I think the people in the 60,s were mor emellow than the 80,s group.

    G'day SimplyKate,

    Thank you for your question.

It is a difficult question to answer authoritatively as it depends on from culture and social group.

Youth culture was stronger in the 1960s due to the baby boomers. This made young people more assertive. Economic conditions were generally more prosperous meaning that you generally had full employment. In the 1980's, the economy was recovering from the stagflation of the 1970s meaning unemployment was generally higher.

However, the world was moving in a generally positive direction in the 1980s from Afghanistan to the Berlin Wall. It went the other way in the 1960s from the death of JFK to the Vietnam War.

    Regards

The people who grew up in the 60's who protested against goverment controling day to day lives of the people, are now the people enacting laws to prevent the people who grew up in the 80's from using the technoligys they invented. ipods in NYC, Smoking everywhere, controls for security, cramming religious beliefs down everyones throat. Cell phone bans, Seat belt laws, speed limits. The list is endless.
