Help answer this question below.

Male and female are both 1 year old it is winter her but not cold, the male have had litters before my female hasnt they are in serparated hutches inside a lighted shed they are both dwarf lopped eared rabbits how can you tell when the female is in heat?

    it doesn't sound good if your doe is one year old and she has never been bred, not had a litter before now. What happens if they are not bred earlier, like between 7-12 months old, is that they get too fat around their reproductive organs and often, even if the doe ovulates, they can't get out because of all the fat around her ovaries. If she doesn't get pregnant soon like in the next month, it really is too late.

    To check if they are in heat, look at her vent area. It shouldn't be just pink or red, it should be purplish in color, really dark. That means she's in heat. Wait until then before trying to breed her. You may check twice a day to find the best time. Some does do not stay in heat for very long, some as short as a day. If it is winter, be sure they are getting plenty of light, at least 14 hours of light, even a lightbulb on will help.
