  • The plug in electric car is far from simple.. The EV1 (the ones they took of the road) had a realistic range of 40-50 miles. These "Simple, Practical" vehicles were leased because they cost way more to make than anyone would pay (estimated to be well over $100,000 USD each) Even with todays battery technology the new Chevy Volt (in dealers in 2010) will only run 40-50 miles before it will have to turn on it's motor/generator and start burning gasoline. The Volt will be sold at a reasonable price because the technology has come down in price. IMHO..
  • Once the hydrogen fuel cell gets the kinks out, it's bye bye gasoline. The technology is too important to dismiss.
