I like President Bush very much, but I think a company should be able to pay their employees however much they want to pay them, this is supposed to be a free enterprise country. Same with professional athletes, I personally dont think they are worth that much money, but they should be able to pay them whatever they want. People do not have to work for the companies or go to the games if they dont like it. I dont go to the games because I refuse to pay the jacked up prices for tickets. No, I dont think government regulation should be involved.

    I agree with jervinator.

Also think it is total BS that congress continually vote themselves big raises when skipping out on work as often as they do, and accomplish so little. If they were paid comparable to production, they'd ALL be eating dog food.

The problem is, with the freedom our country offers, the corporate heads would give themselves EVERYTHING, and Screw the stockholders. The government has to regulate the greed, because no one enforces morality, no one polices themselves to the honor system's standards. Unfortunately, we have to LEGISLATE [enact LAWS] ethics, fairness, etc. THAT'S why having a monopoly is illegal in the U.S.

Of course, but I doubt anything will be done. It was also a good photo op for him especially since he was at Wall Street on the "exchange floor" when he made the comments.

I think that it's a travesty that top execs earn thousands of times what the lowest-tier people do and have golden parachutes that kick in giving them ungodly pensions even if the company goes belly-up and leaves 95+% of it's employees on the street eating dog food.

However society seems to allow this and it isn't government's job to protect people from their own stupidity or laziness... unless society itself demands that government intervene, in which case it is government's job to act.
